Fancy Lake Vacations

Our Top 10 Lake of the Ozarks Recommendations

Here are our favorite things to see and do at the lake.

1. Boating

Voted the #1 Recreational Lake by USA Today

The Lake of the Ozarks covers 54,000 acres with 64 billion gallons of water and over 1,150 miles of shoreline (more than the Coast of California).  Lake of the Ozarks won top honors over other lakes such as Lake Tahoe, Big Bear, Lake Cumberland and Okoboji.

2. Restaurants

With more than 100 restaurants within a short drive from Fancy Lake Vacations properties it is hard to pick our favorites.  You’ll find everything from gourmet creations by world-renowned chefs, amazing pizza, local BBQ, all-you-can-eat buffets, juicy bar-and-grill burgers, down-home favorites, and frozen custard.

Below we’ve listed our favorite place to visit for pizza, steaks, Mexican dishes and of course the lakeside bar and grill.

Beer?  Go here.  A huge selection of over 30 craft beers on tap. No need to worry about what pizza everyone can agree on because they offer personal pan sizes.  This is must stop for us every trip.

Our favorite spot for great upscale food, sunset views and martinis.  Baxter’s offers a large selection of menu items to make everyone happy.  A hot spot at the lake for dinner so call ahead and book a reservation.

When asked what our favorite on the water spot is Redhead is hands down the winner.  Just 3 miles by boat or a short car ride away.  Everything on the menu we’ve tried we love.

The margaritas are amazing.  No matter what time of the year our family always enjoys a great Mexican restaurant.  Within walking distance from the properties, Sergio’s won’t dissapoint.

4. Exploring

With two state parks only a few miles apart there is plenty of exploring to do at the lake.

8. Bagnell Dam

It all started for Lake of the Ozarks in 1932 with completion of the Bagnell Dam.  Just a short drive from our properties you can park and walk across the dam.  Capture beautiful photos and learn more about this historic structure.  As you start exploring the Lake of the Ozarks by water you’ll notice that landmarks such as  waterfront restaurants, bars, pools, coves all reference a mile marker (MM).  Bagnell Dam is mile marker 0 for the main channel of the lake which ends at mile maker 94 – Truman dam .

The Bagnell Dam “strip” is also great to explore after checking out the dam.  The strip is more than a mile long boulevard where you can shop, play games, visit bars and eat.  Visit the arcade featured on the Netflix series OZARK.  Kids will enjoy playing games like skee ball and pinball in the arcade.  Check out the ice cream parlors and get your picture taken in the old-time souvenir studio.  Classic car shows call Bagnell Dam boulevard home in the summer.

9. Go Karts

Lake of the Ozarks offers four locations for go karts.  Even the little ones can drive their own kart at Lemans on a dedicated track. Bumper boats and mini golf too.  Fun for the whole family.

10. Simply Relaxing

There is plenty to do at the lake but don’t forget one of the best things to do is simply relax.  Leave the job stress behind and come visit the lake.  Take in the beautiful sunsets on the balconies of FancyLakeVacations properties.  Enjoy a cocktail or glass of wine at one of the fabulous recommended restaurants.  We can recommend a quite cove to relax and  hang out.  If relaxing is on the itinerary don’t hesitate to ask us for suggestions.
